The fragrant thimbleberry (Rubus odoratus) is a vigorous shrub, perfect for beds due to its beautiful pink flowers that appear throughout the summer. Its large green leaves, reminiscent of maple, add an interesting texture to the garden. Highly attractive to pollinators, this plant offers an essential rendezvous for bees and other insects thanks to its abundant nectar and pollen. In addition to attracting various pollinators, it is also a host plant for several butterflies, notably the spotted apatelodes, the broken-dash cutworm, and the ruby tiger moth. Its red fruits, similar to raspberries, can be eaten raw or made into jelly.

Furthermore, native thimbleberries (Rubus spp.) are recognized as keystone plants for biodiversity in many North American ecoregions, as they support a wide diversity of insects and birds that use their flowers, leaves, and small fruits.
