Sea plantain (Plantago maritima) is a perennial plant that grows mainly along coastlines, in salt marshes, and maritime environments. This plant typically reaches up to 25 cm in height and is characterized by its narrow, elongated, lance-shaped, dark green leaves, often arranged in a rosette at the base. In early summer, it produces dense spikes of small greenish to brownish flowers, borne on long, upright stems. Sea plantain is particularly tolerant of saline and well-drained soils, in addition to being able to withstand drought conditions. Furthermore, sea plantain can live without salt, but it will be more vulnerable to certain diseases or insects and its appearance and taste will be affected.
