Haskap (Lonicera caerulea) is a perennial shrub that typically reaches a height of 1 to 2 meters. Its slender, often arching branches bear opposite, oval, bright green leaves. What distinguishes this plant are its tubular flowers, usually yellow inside and white outside, that bloom in spring, attracting numerous pollinators, including bees and hummingbirds. The fruits, which appear in summer, are edible dark blue berries. Haskap prefers well-drained, slightly acidic soils, as well as a location in full sun or partial shade. It is a hardy plant, capable of withstanding the harsh winters of Quebec.

Medicinal and Culinary Uses
The berries, with their sweet and slightly tart taste, are not only delicious but also rich in vitamins and antioxidants. They can be eaten fresh, in jams, jellies, or juices.

Ecological Role
