The scarlet lily beetle or its Latin name Lilioceris lilii

Le Criocere du lys ou du nom latin Lilioceris lilii
Present in your lilies or fritillaries, this orange beetle loves to eat them from flower to foot.

This insect was introduced to Quebec by cargo ship and unfortunately came without predators. Many horticulturists have tried to find effective products to kill it, but to no avail.

How to recognize it:

As shown below, the lily beetle is easily recognizable.

First, you will see the damage produced by the orange larvae; they eat the leaves and flower buds. You will also notice small black piles, which are their excrement. Then, the scarlet red beetle with an inordinate appetite will appear.

How to control them:

The current solution would be to collect the larvae and insects by hand early in the morning and drown them in soapy water. Don't forget to turn over the leaves to detect the presence of small orange eggs and crush them. It will be important to be diligent, but unfortunately, the solution will not be miraculous.

For my part, having no effective solution to combat the invader, I decided to eliminate lilies from my flowerbeds.
